ReadItDaddy's Picture Book of the Week - Week Ending 11th August 2017 - "Fluffywuffy" by Simon Puttock and Matt Robertson (Frances Lincoln Children's Books)

We utterly love books like this. Books that deceive you with covers that bely their AWFUL TERRIFYING INSIDES!!! Our Picture Book of the Week this week is the awesome "Fluffywuffy"...
I admit it, we both looked at this one and said an instant "Nope!" the minute we saw this cover. Charlotte is completely over the 'cute' books, and I wasn't sure about the prospect of wading through another story about a cute dog (dogs - we've just spent a week in a cottage that was advertised as 'dog friendly' by the owners, and if you're not  a dog owner, that basically equates to "Smells like an old sock that's been lovingly chewed by a Great Dane"

Anyway, dogs - cute dogs in particular - they're little monsters in disguise and when it comes to "Fluffywuffy" this is absolutely true.

Mr Moot (Fluffywuffy's owner) is a fairly easy going guy. He leads a simple life, he doesn't have much stress, doesn't even have noisy neighbours but when his cousin crashes in on his life to stay for a week (or maybe even a year), Mr Moot's quiet life is turned upside down.

Mr Moot and Fluffywuffy. Aw bless!

Every night he settles down to sleep, but his annoying cousin has other ideas...

I once lived in a shared block of flats with a drummer. It didn't end well...
Cousin Clarence is possibly the most annoying person on the planet. He loves drumming, hammering, and generally being a complete and utter (rude words deleted for family audience). But Mr Moot, being a fairly placid fellow, seems to let Clarence get away with his rotten behaviour.

So what has all this got to do with cute bow-wearing dogs I hear you ask. Well, as you can probably see, Fluffywuffy might be tiny but wears an expression of supreme evil anger! Clarence has upset the applecart at home, and for this he must PAY!!!

We will leave you to find out just how Fluffywuffy exacts a terrible revenge, suffice to say that the more nervous types amongst you might want to skip the end of the book. It's far too harrowing for fragile little minds.

Utterly hilarious from start to finish, the sort of book we love. Well done Simon and Matt!

Charlotte's best bit: Of course she just loved that ending!!

Daddy's favourite bit: A fabulous lesson in never judging a book by it's cover, a dark harrowing disturbing tale of sweet fluffy justice! Love it to bits!
