"The Way to Outer Space" by Jay Eunji Lee (Oxford Children's Publishing / OUP)

Space! Oh you know we do love a good spacey book, particularly one that tells a great story and encourages learning through play...
"The Way to Outer Space" by Jay Eunji Lee instantly caught our attention when it spun through our airlocks back at Base Station ReadItDaddy-1.

Space exploration is a subject that has really caught children's attention and spurred their imaginations this year, with the fantastic adventures of Tim Peake aboard the International Space Station.

It's never been a better time to release a space book and here's one that not only contains a fantastic story, but also a ton of brilliant activities for your child to join in with as they read the tale.

Young Em wants to go into space, but it's a fairly tricky task to get everything set up for a journey into the cosmos.

Em along with her awesome moggy sidekick gears up for the mission.

She'll need a rocket and some supplies, and once she's floating up there in the inky blackness a few stars and some alien friends wouldn't go amiss either.

Jay's storybook helps little ones create some awesome props to act out Em's adventures as the tale unfolds. Making Em's rocket was definitely the highlight for us, we managed a pretty decent version and were soon jetting off on our own adventures.

It's a fantastic idea, marrying a brilliant story to a set of fun activities. It's stellar, in fact!

Charlotte's best bit: When Em receives a mysterious package from some interstellar explorers, the fun really begins

Daddy's favourite bit: What a brilliant idea! Part story book, part activity book, totally awesome in every way. Perfect for your little astronauts!
