Two Can by Smriti Prasadam-Halls and Ben Javens (Frances Lincoln Children's Books)

One is fun, two is better! A great little tale of co-operation, friendship and joining in. Two Can!
Smriti Prasadam Halls and Ben Javens prove that two indeed can! That is, produce a great little story book called "Two Can" which celebrates the joy of play, friendship and helping each other out.

A little girl is playing on her own. She can build amazing sandcastles and doesn't need any help playing on the swings. But a little boy wants to join in.

At first he's a bit of an annoyance. He's none too careful and crushes the poor girl's fabulous sandcastle and he really can't even get ON the swing let alone push himself. But then the little girl discovers that there are things that he can do and she can't. He can swim, and so between the two they share their skills and knowledge, and soon discover that two can, and playing together can be a massive amount of fun! After all, no one wants to try and bounce up and down on a see-saw on their own!

A lovely and neat little story, purposely keeping the word count to a minimum and featuring brilliant bold illustrations. Great stuff Smriti and Ben!

Charlotte's best bit: Going swimming is so much more fun if you can both join in

Daddy's favourite bit: A hugely positive message in this great little tale.
