ReadItDaddy's Chapter Book of the Week - Week Ending 15th September 2017 - "Isadora Moon Goes on a School Trip" by Harriet Muncaster (Oxford Children's Books)

Our Chapter Book of the Week sees the welcome return of a glorious half fairy / half vampire character with tons of mighty girl gusto...
We're so pleased to see "Isadora Moon Goes on a School Trip", once again establishing Harriet Muncaster as our kind of author, one who loves to mix darkly funny thrills with gothic girl powahhh.
Isadora Moon is special because she is different. Her mum is a fairy and her dad is a vampire and she is a bit of both.

In this brilliant series we've seen Izzy go to 'real' school, go to the ballet, and get in tons of trouble but this time she's off on a school trip to a creaky crumbly old castle. Spooky!

In the midst of a loud cracking thunderstorm, Isadora wanders off on her own and discovers the castle dungeon. Here she meets a brand new friend, who (like Isadora) is a little bit different too.

The problem is, as wonderful as it is to have a ghost friend, what will your other friends think? Will they get used to the idea or will they run screaming in terror?!

This series goes from strength to strength, instantly full of the sort of things Charlotte loves with plenty of spookiness and fun. It's definitely suitable for the lower age groups in middle grade but that doesn't stop it being a fantastic little read (that Charlotte consumed in one delicious vampire-bite-sized gulp!)

"Isadora Moon Goes on a School Trip" by Harriet Muncaster is out now, published by Oxford Children's Books (kindly supplied for review).
