Monstergami: Paper Folding for your Inner Monster by Duy Nguyen (Sterling Publishing)

Aw, it's a bit of a shame that this didn't quite turn up in time for our Halloween coverage but any time is a good time for making monsters...!
Duy Nguyen is an origami expert and here he turns his considerable talents towards bringing us fantastic paper renditions of the creatures of the night.

Werewolves, Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula, Zombies - you name it, and they're gloriously replicated here in three-dimensional paper form.

"Monstergami: Paper Folding for your Inner Monster" is definitely not a book for origami beginners. The book starts out by showing you some basic folds and origami terms, and then shows you how most of the models in the book evolve from a simple set of templates into the gorgeously gruesome creations you see gracing the cover. Special printed origami paper is included in the book's inside back cover so you can get started straight away, or even start to come up with your own designs from any suitable paper stock you have at home.

We both really struggled to make any of the models in the book - obviously my sausage fingers, and Charlotte's impatience didn't help but if you're up for a monstrous challenge and love paper construction, this is a thoroughly absorbing and brilliant title.

Charlotte's favourite monster: A rather fantastic version of Dracula

Daddy's favourite monster: Howling at the moon, the truly awesome werewolf.
