Jules and Nina - Happy Birthday Nina by Anita Pouroulis and Agata Krawczyk (Digital Leaf)

Hooray, it's the third book in Anita Pouroulis' devoted doggy series "Jules, Nina and George Tales" and it's a very special one because it's time for a birthday!

In "Happy Birthday Nina", Jules discovers Nina's dog certificates and realises that her pet pooch's birthday is coming up. Mum isn't so sure that dogs actually WANT birthday parties with balloons, cake and pass the parcel but Jules is adamant. Nina is going to have a party!

After inviting a couple of her friends round, and also recruiting George (who seems a bit reluctant to get involved), Nina's party is in full swing!

But as abject chaos breaks out, do you think Mum was probably right after all, and that all dogs really want for their birthday is a laze in the sun and a nice juicy bone?

We love this series, mostly because it's an acute observation of the way children interact with their pets (and imagine what their pets are really thinking) - and also of course an acute observation of true doggy behaviour. We love Nina, she's polite, prim and proper and rather stylish but we also love George because he's a lovable scamp who always seems to be at the centre of any mischief (Charlotte laughed out loud at the bits where Jules mistakes George's fly chasing for rather enthusiastic dancing!)

Catch up with Jules, Nina and George and join in the celebration today!

Charlotte's best bit: George's wild dancing (or is it fly catching!)

Daddy's Favourite bit: A brilliant series perfectly capturing childhood innocence, and doggy (mis)behaviour!

Happy Birthday Nina!
